3rd-5th Grade State Testing Started The Week!

Our third through fifth grade students will be participating in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) for the next three weeks.  Fifth grade students have started this week with the new online Science Test. All third through fifth grade students will take the English Language Arts and Math test online between April 30th to May 11th.  Make up sessions could possibly extend to May 18th. Please help your child get a good rest and as always, please have them arrive to school on time. Most testing sessions will start soon after the morning bell.  Thank you for your support. Día del Niño Multicultural for the whole family on 5/3/18

We’re excited for our upcoming school wide celebration - Multicultural Children’s Day-  Thursday afternoon, May 3rd, from 1-4pm. Please remember to wear any traditional costume or dress from your unique culture or background that day! We are still looking for parent volunteers to help with different activities. Please

Smartphones and Communications Workshop

Friday, April 27 6-7:30pm in TH Library ***Location change to Monta Loma Library

The TechBridgers Club run by Los Altos High School students will be offering a Smartphone and Communications Workshop on Friday, April 27 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm for Theuerkauf and Monta Loma parents.  They will be teaching parents how to use your smartphones to connect to school websites and programs, use Google Translate and check your email. Library Closed - Please return library books

As you may know, the library is now closed for the school year.  We are getting ready for the library modernization that will take place over the summer.  A friendly reminder to please have your child turn in any outstanding library books. Thank you!

 

Kick, Lead, and Dream (KLD) Soccer Camp registration open now!

Parents, would your child benefit from a two-week, $10 camp?  Kick, Lead, and Dream (KLD) is a soccer camp where motivated high school students (KLD Coaches) volunteer to become role models, to provide underserved or low income kids from the Mountain View and Sunnyvale public schools (KLD Campers) the opportunity to improve their soccer skills, learn valuable leadership qualities, and gain the confidence to dream BIG!  Campers are provided with free refreshments and camp t-shirts. KLD's goal is to make the camp experience something campers will always remember. Free round-trip bus transportation, from select pick-up points in Mountain View and Sunnyvale to camp is also provided. Sunnyvale bus pick ups are expected to be at Lakewood School, Columbia Middle School and Vargas School.  Mountain View pick-ups will be Crittenden and Castro (TBD). Sign up online to participate in this 2-week, $10 camp!

School Site Council 2018-2019 Self-Nomination Forms

Theuerkauf Elementary is forming their School Site Council for the 2018-2019 school year.  It will consist of five staff members and five parents. School Site Council is very important as it is responsible for developing the school goals and budget with the Principal. There are 3 vacancies for parent/community member positions, and these positions will be filled by an election.

Self-nomination forms were sent home last week.  You can also see the attachment section of this newsletter to print and turn in the form. Forms are due on this Friday, April 27th.  Thank you.

CSMA Concert

It is CSMA Concert season at our elementary schools! Thanks to donations from parents and community members, the Mountain View Educational Foundation is able to fund in-class music lessons led by Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) music teachers at every elementary school. A 5th-grade teacher had this to say about the program, “The music program helps build confidence, responsibility, and is a great part of our curriculum. The music teachers are knowledgeable, passionate, and they have consistently inspired many students to continue to play their instruments.”  Thank you, donors, for your generosity and support. MV Parent U: Suicide Prevention

MV Parent University presents “Suicide Prevention: What Parents Need to Know” on Wednesday, May 9th, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the Crittenden Middle School – Multi-Use Room.

Presented by: Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services, parents will learn to ask the  ?right questions and resources to help, as well as about the QPR/ Question, Persuade, Refer, Suicide prevention gatekeeper training.

Doors open at 6:00 PM. Come early to check out the resources!

·  Transportation (Bus departs from Castro Elementary and Graham Middle at 6 p.m. and returns at 8:30 p.m.)
