Mountain View Whisman School District
Invitation to Public Forums
In October 2008, the Board of Trustees approved the development of a Comprehensive Master Plan for district facilities, dubbed the Student Facilities Improvement Plan (SFIP). This master plan will guide all major facilities improvements over the ten years following its adoption and is being developed in the following steps:
Conditions and Needs Analysis (analysis of existing facilities and their current/future needs,
including enrollment and demographic study, broad program needs, and enhancements);
Guiding Principles (broad items most important to us as a district moving into the next ten years)
to govern decisions within the SFIP;
Program Standards (specific program-related needs including all aspects of our various curricula
and student population);
Draft Scenarios for how to meet the next decade of needs for our facilities, students, and
community, based upon our Guiding Principles and Program Standards;
Draft Student Facilities Improvement Plan (a draft of the final ten-year plan based upon feedback
from the Draft Scenarios); and,
Final SFIP presentation (the final document based upon feedback on the draft).
Since October of 2008, many public Board meetings have been held describing the master plan process as well as the first two bullets (Conditions and Needs Analysis and Guiding Principles). We have welcomed the input from our community provided at these sessions.
The process is now at its most critical point. As we begin to develop actual scenarios to address our needs in the next ten years, we ask that you join us at any or all of the following public forums. Note that these will be held at various schools and will not have the formality of a boardroom setting. Rather, staff will present information regarding our current status in the process and ask for your input in moving forward. These meetings are open to all community members and we welcome all who wish to share their thoughts on the future of our district.
