 Principal's Message

Dear Cheetah Community,

Thank you all for coming out to Open House last week - it was fantastic to see all of the families at school, celebrating our wonderful students! There is something really special about Theuerkauf’s community events - I can feel it and I hope that you all can feel it as well.

Thank you to the volunteers who made the Math Festival on Monday another fun learning event for the students! Our fabulous fifth graders worked the stations and helped all of the younger students play the math games. Each grade level came through on its own so that all of the students had the time and space to check out the different tables. Here are a few photos:

Important Notice RE: Items dropped off during school hours.

One of our core values at Theuerkauf is Responsibility. There has been a large increase in items forgotten and dropped off items during the day. Sometimes it is challenging to get items to students in a timely manner and we want to minimize interruptions of lessons during class time so all students can stay focused on their education.

Please support your child at home by going through a quick checklist before leaving: Warm jacket, hat or gloves if needed, lunch box, backpack, instrument, homework, etc.

Thank you for supporting our core value of Responsibility and minimizing classroom interruptions.

If you do need to drop off a forgotten item please label it with the following so there is no confusion or mix ups. Please note that the office staff will do their best to get it to the students in a timely manner:

  1. Student name

  2. Grade

  3. Teacher and Room #

Invitations for districtwide Summer Programs have been emailed to those who qualify in late March

Qualifying families have received invitations to one or more programs that will provide summertime care, enrichment, and academic support. The majority of these programs are for students who are English Learners and/or considered socioeconomically disadvantaged. The programs vary in scope and specific qualification criteria. Students with IEPs who have Extended School Year services documented in their IEPs will be receiving information about that program by April 7.

MVWSD is updating its math curriculum

As typical with our curriculum cycles, it’s time to review and improve our mathematics program to ensure all students have strong learning opportunities, including acceleration if desired.

MVWSD is launching a two-year process to update math curriculum based on the latest research and best practices for math education. Our math curriculum was last adopted in 2015, and math placement criteria hasn’t been updated since 2021-22. To make this process inclusive, we’re seeking input from students, staff, and parents on math curriculum, instruction, pathways, assessments, and placement.

Please join this ThoughtExchange to share your thoughts until April 4. Click here to take the survey:   https://tejoin.com/scroll/521030747. This online survey is open to all staff, parents, and students in grades 4-8. Additionally, there will be focus groups for more in-depth discussions with staff, students, and parents. Your input matters!
