 Principal's Message

It is the last week before February vacation already! We can tell on campus that the students can feel it coming. You can help us by continuing to have a regular routine at home,  getting your student to school on time, and by reminding your student to wash their hands before and after eating and using the bathroom. There are a lot of germs going around, and no one wants their student to be sick over break.

The fundraiser and letter-writing campaign has ended and we are thrilled to report that Theuerkauf students raised $560 for the wildfire victims in the Los Angeles area! Look what can be done when we work together! See the flyer below.

All of us at Theuerkauf are wishing you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day, and a restful, fun, safe week next week.

Margaret Poor

Important Notice RE: Items dropped off during school hours.

One of our core values at Theuerkauf is Responsibility. There has been a large increase in items forgotten and dropped off items during the day. Sometimes it is challenging to get items to students in a timely manner and we want to minimize interruptions of lessons during class time so all students can stay focused on their education.

Please support your child at home by going through a quick checklist before leaving: Warm jacket, hat or gloves if needed, lunch box, backpack, instrument, homework, etc.

Thank you for supporting our core value of Responsibility and minimizing classroom interruptions.

If you do need to drop off a forgotten item please label it with the following so there is no confusion or mix ups. Please note that the office staff will do their best to get it to the students in a timely manner:

  1. Student name

  2. Grade

  3. Teacher and Room #

SEL Curriculum Pilot & Community Review

Our Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum Committee has reached a major milestone! Since September 2024, our team of educators, administrators, and community members has worked to narrow 100+ curriculum options to two high-quality finalists. Now, we are piloting these programs in classrooms to determine the best fit for our students.

  • Second Step Pilot: January 13 – February 14, 2025

  • Character Strong Pilot: February 24 – April 4, 2025

We Need Your Feedback!

As we refine our SEL curriculum, we invite teachers, staff, and families to review and provide input at one of our Community Review Sessions at the MVWSD District Office (Conference Room C, 1400 Montecito Ave., Mountain View, CA).

Community Review Sessions:

  • March 13, 2025

    • Session 1: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

    • Session 2: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

  • March 20, 2025

    • Session 3: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

    • Session 4: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

These sessions provide a chance to learn about both curricula, share your insights, and help shape the future of SEL in our district. Can’t attend? Email Karin Jinbo to review the materials.

Middle School Information Night presentations available

If you are an incoming 6th grade family and weren’t able to attend the Middle School Information Nights in January, materials from the presentations are available. Click here for Graham and click here for Crittenden.

Better Together: February

Black History Month provides MVWSD with a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the rich contributions and achievements of African Americans while fostering a deeper sense of community among our students, staff, and families. By learning about influential Black leaders, innovators, and community helpers - from local civil rights activists to Black educators, doctors, and entrepreneurs who shaped our neighborhood - students develop a broader understanding of how diverse voices and experiences have strengthened our community. Last week, the Board of Trustees passed a resolution honoring February as Black History Month. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
