 Principal's Message

Dear Cheetah Community,

Welcome back from February break! I hope that everyone took a little time to relax and enjoy just being with each other. I got to see my son who is in college, and that was fantastic. I read (part of) a book, and that was terrific. And my daughter made us a lemon meringue pie which was delicious! Who could ask for more?

We have a lot of fun things going on at school this week:

Tuesday: 3rd Grade will have an in-house field trip with the Santa Clara Audubon Society.

Tuesday: 4th and 5th Grades will get to experience an author visit in the library.

Wednesday: 1st Grade will go on a field trip to the Children’s Discovery Museum.

Thursday: All grades will have an assembly with representatives of the Peninsula Symphony.

And for the grown ups:

Friday is the day for Coffee & Donuts w/ Principal & PTA: We plan to take our coffee into the library this time and have a presentation on the California Dashboard, followed by this week's special guest, our school counselor, Leigh Wilson! She will present an encore session from December's parent event, offering practical ways to transfer mindfulness strategies from school to home (20-30 minutes). We look forward to starting the day with inspiration and connection!

We hope to see you there!

Have a great week, everyone,

Margaret Poor

Interim Principal

Better Together: February

Black History Month provides MVWSD with a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the rich contributions and achievements of African Americans while fostering a deeper sense of community among our students, staff, and families. By learning about influential Black leaders, innovators, and community helpers - from local civil rights activists to Black educators, doctors, and entrepreneurs who shaped our neighborhood - students develop a broader understanding of how diverse voices and experiences have strengthened our community. Last week, the Board of Trustees passed a resolution honoring February as Black History Month. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
