 Principal's Message

Dear Cheetah Community,

Welcome back and happy 2025!!! I hope you had a great break with time to take in all of the precious moments with your child! We sure are excited to have welcomed them back this week!

Upcoming Interim ELPAC Testing for 3rd-5th graders - 1/15-1/17 during ELD

This year we have an exciting opportunity to get to know more about our English language learners before the summative ELPAC test which is administered Feb.-April. Next week, EL students will get to experience the test environment for the listening, reading, and writing sections. Teachers will get immediate feedback on where each student is excelling and challenges they are still having. This will help to tailor instruction during our ELD rotations for the coming weeks so they can make even more improvement before the summative ELPAC! We look forward to using the data to support our students even more!

Keep up the Theuerkauf Cheetah Spirit!

It is so bittersweet to say goodbye for now! Friday is my last day before I go on maternity leave. Please continue to share all of the great things that happen at Theuerkauf and encourage your neighbors and cheetah friends to continue to stay involved and connected. There has been huge growth in our community, including PTA and ELAC members! Let’s keep that momentum going! If you still want to get involved in PTA, it’s not too late to join! This is a great opportunity to bond and create new friendships with the same goal - success for our students! Have you checked out their website recently? PTA Website

Please continue to partner with our school and staff and assume best intent. We all want the most success and growth for your child! I am so happy to have been able to share our increased reading scores and huge growth of moving students from tier 3 to tier 2 in math. There is still a lot of progress to be made, but we are in an uphill climb to increasing education for our students. Some of the teacher run programs that are proving to be successful that were put in place this year include: switching cohort groups (K, 1-2, 3-5) for RTI (Response to Instruction), D-ELD (Designated English Language Development), Newcomer classes, and partner teacher push-in math support. Teachers are working tirelessly to learn the new Science of Reading curriculum (CKLA Amplify) and students are loving all of the rich learning experiences. We have a parent and teacher committee gathering books and creating field trip experiences that bring the curriculum to life. This year with our new school counselor, we have been able to support different needs that our students have and have opened up Zen Den during recess with our librarian and our SCEF opens up her room for games and activities during the week as well. This supports other ways students can re-energize during their lunch breaks. We have amazing staff members working together to support the students and the systems in place for our school. There are so many things I can reflect on and just sit and smile about. There are those tiny lightbulb moments and then there are large presentations or performances of learning like at our school showcase for the Board Members before break. Watch Theuerkauf School Showcase here - fast forward to 2:07:00! All of these moments are to be cherished. It’s the small wins that create that great success and at Theuerkauf we are well on our way. There are still many chapters to our journey, but with the passion and dedication of our teachers/staff we are creating such a bright future generation of leaders! It is something to celebrate! Thank you for your continued support and spirit of what it means to be a Theuerkauf Cheetah. And please make sure to give a warm welcome to Margaret Poor who will begin her official take over on Monday, January 13th. Gooooooo Cheetahs

With Gratitude,

Principal Danielle Lyons
