 Principal's Message

Hello Cheetah Community!

I cannot believe that we have only seven days of school left! What an amazing year it has been for the students and staff. They have shown resilience, creativity, responsibility and care for each other as changes and challenges have come. We have a lot of exciting events on the horizon:

5th Grade Promotion

Our 5th graders have worked so hard and we are ready to applaud them. We will be celebrating their accomplishments on June 4 at 3:00pm in the MUR with a light reception to follow.

End of Year Kindergarten Celebration

We will also celebrate the accomplishments of our Kindergarteners with a gathering in the MUR from 8:30-9:30am on June 4th.  All visitors must sign in at the front office.

Returning Chromebooks and Chargers:

If your child doesn't return next year, please ask them to also return their Chromebook to the office.

Not planning to have your child return next year?

If you plan on moving during the summer or know your child will not return to our school or the District for the 2025-2026 school year, please email our school secretary Ms. Gaby at [email protected]

Important Notice RE: Items dropped off during school hours.

One of our core values at Theuerkauf is Responsibility. There has been a large increase in items forgotten and dropped off items during the day. Sometimes it is challenging to get items to students in a timely manner and we want to minimize interruptions of lessons during class time so all students can stay focused on their education.

Please support your child at home by going through a quick checklist before leaving: Warm jacket, hat or gloves if needed, lunch box, backpack, instrument, homework, etc.

Thank you for supporting our core value of Responsibility and minimizing classroom interruptions.

If you do need to drop off a forgotten item please label it with the following so there is no confusion or mix ups. Please note that the office staff will do their best to get it to the students in a timely manner:

  1. Student name

  2. Grade

  3. Teacher and Room #

Library News

Dear Families,

As summer approaches, we encourage you to support your child's learning by dedicating just 20 minutes a day to reading. This simple habit can lead to remarkable academic and personal growth.

Over the summer, kids can lose two to three months' worth of reading skills, which can make it tough to jump back in when school starts again. But reading every day helps keep their minds sharp—and it also builds important life skills like empathy, creativity, and problem-solving.

Starting June 1st your student can sign up for the Mountain View Public Library Summer Reading Program which offers activities and rewards to motivate young readers through July 31. You can support them by making books at their reading level available and redeeming their achievement ticket for a free book at the public library after 30 days.  Achievement tickets are available at the school library while supplies last and at the Mountain View Public Library after that.

In Pioneer Park on Monday, June 16 at 3pm the Wildmind Science Learning will show unusual, wondrous live animals while helping students learn to better understand the tropical rainforest and its plants, wildlife and people.

Reading Suggestions:

  • Let your child choose books that spark their interest to make reading enjoyable.

  • Incorporate reading into daily routines, such as bedtime or reading to start the day.

  • Encourage creative responses to reading, like retelling the story at dinner or predicting what might happen next.

By committing to 20 minutes of reading each day, your child can maintain and even enhance their literacy skills over the summer. Thank you for partnering with us to promote a love of reading.

The Mountain View Public Library has their Summer Reading webpage up for students to register. There is a Summer Reading Kick-Off on Monday, June 9th from 6:30-7:30 pm. Stop into the Mountain View Public Library to learn more about the programs offered for families and sign up for a free library card. You can get Free & Discounted Museum Passes, California State Parks Passes, and more. The services at our Mountain View Public Library are excellent–there’s even a Seed Library!
