 Principal's Message

Dear Cheetah Community,

Join Us! Reading Sleepover Party! - Wednesday, November 13th! Tonight!

SIGN UP HERE (helps for food count)

Are you wondering more about the Science of Reading? Are you looking to gain knowledge on how to support your child at home with literacy? Come to Theuerkauf for a special Parent University learning experience! Parents will be in their own group learning about strategies to support their child, while your child will be in their own group listening to a story, creating a fun literacy game for home, and continuing to grow the love of reading! Wear your PJs and grab a bag of popcorn and some chicken nuggets on your way into this sleepover party! If you have siblings, they can support each other during each session.

a.   5-6pm - TK-2nd graders

b.   6:15-7:15pm -  3rd-5th graders

Please bring your library card OR be ready to sign up for a library card! We will have the Mountain View Library here so you and your child can pick out a book or two to go home with and return at our next Book Mobile event!

United Against Hate - Week of 11/18!

See last week’s letter for more about this week. Don’t forget to check out our new banner in the front of our school for the award we received after last year! My favorite addition this year is trying to get the whole family involved! Take a picture with your tear off page and family and post to Theuerkauf Facebook or send it to me [email protected] so I can see where you posted around Mountain View! Let me know if I have permission to post it to instagram or facebook! OR feel free to post your picture in a comment directly on my post (Click Here) Theuerkauf facebook page

How can your family get involved? Join me in creating a tear-off page to post somewhere in your community! Make sure to ask them if you can hang it up first, or put it on a light post nearby! The goal is for you and your family to work together to write nice sayings, special quotes, or anything kind to put a smile on someone’s face. Community members walking by can tear off a little slip that they needed to hear at that moment. They can also give it to someone else to continue to spread kindness! These papers will go home next week. I’d love to walk around our community and see these kindness pages everywhere!

Proposition 28 News!

I have some exciting news to share: Due to the passage of Proposition 28, California schools will now receive additional funding for arts and music each year. In addition to our current arts programs, our school will soon have an additional annual budget of approximately $50,000 to spend on more arts and music experiences for students, and we need your ideas!

There will be two main ways to share your thoughts:

Please click here for a brief survey about potential future arts programming. (The students and staff will be given similar surveys at school). This survey will be open until December 15.

Come and hear more about Prop 28 and give input on this topic at these upcoming meetings:

Better Together: November & December

As we enter the vibrant months of November and December, our school community embarks on a meaningful journey exploring the rich tapestry of cultures that make our community unique and special. During these months, we focus on three important themes that help us understand and celebrate our differences while building stronger connections with each other: Celebrating diverse communities while acknowledging Native American Heritage Month and Special Education Awareness Month. Through these themes, we'll discover that our differences aren't just something to accept – they're something to celebrate. Together, we'll learn how understanding and appreciating each other's unique qualities makes our entire community better. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
