From the Principal's Desk

Hello our Wonderful Theuerkauf Family,

It’s been a great week at our school! We had our Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Information Nights and they were very well attended. It was so exciting for our teachers and I to meet with our incoming families. We can't wait to welcome our youngest learners at Theuerkauf next Fall.

As we come closer to the Holidays, we also reach our mid-year academic school year benchmark. Our Kindergartners - 5th grade students are taking their mid-year i-Ready assessments. Last week our Cheetahs took the Reading assessment and this week, they’re taking the Math benchmark. Please remind your student to read the question carefully, think about the process to follow to solve the problem, and thereafter engage in solving the problem. Thinking about how to solve the problem before solving the problem helps us formulate the most accurate response or solution. We should remind our students not to rush to select an answer choice. i-Ready assessment reports will be sent home in January.

Please join us for “Coffee and Conversations with Superintendent Rudolph” at our school on Friday, December 13th, at 8:50 am in our MUR. Let’s gather and have some informal conversations over a cup of coffee and some breakfast treats.

You know, we at Theuerkauf, like to have fun at work. In the spirit of the Holiday season, our staff today made hats and took selfies/ pictures with team members. Now, that was a fun way to end our day!

This takes me to the last day of school before Winter Break. We got to have a fun spirit wear day and wear PJs to school on the last day of school before winter break. You never know, I might just wear my PJs too (for the first time in my administrative career!) Looking forward to a cozy end of December 2019 with Pajama Day on December 20th!

Keep smiling and don’t forget to live in the moment!

Sincerely,

Ms. Swati Dagar

Principal - Theuerkauf Elementary

CSMA After School Art Club

Join us for a 15 week spring art club session where we will explore the theme:

Our Natural World.

Students will paint, draw and build with support and instruction from CSMA faculty. Teachers develop a new curriculum with each new session.

We will study artists that examine and reflect on the many things that make up our world and contribute to the future. From the tiniest insect and plants to the glaciers and unique features of the earth, students will create projects based on these reflections and examinations.

Middle School Electives Interest Survey coming the week of 12/16

As we enter the third year of the inclusive middle school schedule, our middle schools are currently working to provide quality elective offerings that are a great complement to our core academics. It's our goal to align electives with students’ interests and teachers’ credentials.

In order to gauge students’ interests, and inform the development of the elective catalog for the next school year, students in grades 5-7 will be asked to complete a survey in class the week of December 16th.  This survey will list possible electives for 2020-21 and ask students to indicate the top three electives they may be interested in taking. The purpose of this survey only is to understand student interests. Students will not be committed to taking the electives they express interest in. Incoming and current middle school students will not formally request electives until the spring of 2020.

For more information on the process, and to view last year’s electives catalogs, please click on www.mvwsd.org/MSelectives.
