Hello Theuerkauf Family!

A lot has changed in the last month. But one thing that has not and will not change is our sense of urgency and commitment to serve every student with excellence, everyday. Recently, I read somewhere, “If school does not resume this school year, students will only lose about 2 months of curriculum.  Not ½ a year.” So true! This made me think about how our teachers have and continue to provide a solid foundation to our students right from the start in TK and beyond. They have supported this learning foundation all through the year and continue to do so through our distance learning plan roll-out. Yes, it definitely looks (and feels) different with teachers not being there in person but they are available virtually for all of our students and families. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher with questions about academics or anything else. We are all here for you. I am thoroughly impressed with how our Theuerkauf teachers have taken flight doing Live lessons or recordings. This past weekend, as I was going over our instructional roll-out by grade level on the teacher created Google Classroom slide decks, my heart was filled with joy or I would say, “immense Principal pride”, seeing the instructional roll-out by all grade levels. Our teachers have done a phenomenal job taking along the direction provided on this new virtual instructional roll-out!

We understand that many families may be inundated with emails and  Zoom meeting invites. It’s so hard to keep track of different meetings with multiple students learning at home. We understand, trust me, we do! Hence, we created a School Dashboard to provide you one link to your child’s Google Classroom and their Weekly Schedule. The Dashboard is updated and ready on Monday morning each week. You don’t need to go looking for links everywhere anymore- it is right here for you on our school website (under Distance Learning Plan)! TH School Dashboard Link is Here

Happy Earth Day 2020 Week! It’s the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day celebrations this year. Even though we are living in uncertain times, don’t let it get us down! Let’s continue to give back to Mother Earth, do some planting or watering or weeding, even appreciating the natural beauty around us counts...at least in my books, it does!. I believe that Earth Day is a reminder for us to remember where we belong – to practice mindfulness and to be present in the moment. I often share and practice mindfulness with teachers at our meetings and today I’d like to share this joy with you – my Theuerkauf Family! The link below is a short Youtube video that you could practice (your children could join in as well) to remind us all of being in the moment and to acknowledge our feelings – joy, happiness, boredness, being numb, or sadness, etc. Being present in the moment helps us to acknowledge that it is okay to have emotions and feelings, it is how we respond to them that makes a difference. Mindfulness Video Link Here

You know we miss you SO much! We have a message for our Theuerkauf Cheetahs and we made a video to share our message. Check it out - We Miss You!

Sending peace, tranquility, and positive energies your way.

Much love to you all,

Principal Dagar

2020 Census Paper Questionnaires are on their way to Californians!

If you’re among the 70+ million households who have already responded to the 2020 Census, thank you! If you haven’t completed it yet, paper questionnaires are in the mail headed your way. Households receiving the paper questionnaire can still respond online or by phone, or they can return it by mail in the enclosed envelope. When you respond online, use the Census ID from the letter or provide your address. To respond now, go to https://go.usa.gov/xdKjk.

Please encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to complete it too. It’s something everyone can do while practicing social distancing at home to make a difference today, tomorrow and the next 10 years.

Free, low cost internet for students

We think that it’s important that each of our students has one Internet-ready device (laptop, iPad, etc)  in their house for distance learning schoolwork.  There are several ways you can access free/or low cost internet to connect students' Chromebooks. Please see the attached flyer or click on www.mvwsd.org/technology.
