March 4, 2021

Hello, Theuerkauf families!

It has been an exciting week thus far! We held our second on-campus PE session yesterday, and it was once again so uplifting to see our students having fun and staying active.

Reopening - Coming Soon!

I want to thank you again for filling out your learning options survey! As Superintendent Rudolph communicated in his letter yesterday, our district will be reopening schools very soon, and the Theuerkauf team is hard at work executing our plans to reopen our school safely. I ask for your patience, flexibility and understanding as we go through this process. I look forward to being in communication soon and often in order to ensure clarity and a practical understanding of how to follow the safeguards we are putting in place for all stakeholders in our learning community.

We will hold a series of preparation meetings for those who have elected to have their student(s) participate in hybrid learning. The first such meeting will occur on Thursday, 3/11/21, from 4-5pm. During this meeting, I will share our reopening plan, safety procedures, and answer any questions that you might have about our plan. Please stay tuned to your email for additional meetings about reopening soon.

Playgrounds & Fields - Important Reminder

Please remember that our school fields and playgrounds are closed during school days until 4 p.m., just as they’d be as if we are in a typical school year. Our students will be even more spread out on campus in order to ensure physical spacing and social distancing. There are also other student programs, such as Learning Support Pods and Rhythm and Moves fitness classes, and staff present on campus during the school day. This makes it even more critical that the public stays off school fields and playgrounds during school hours in order to reduce the risk of COVID transmission and to ensure students’ physical safety.

You can help keep students and staff safe, and our school open. Please:

* Enter campus at designated entry points (at the office) for check in, hand sanitizing and health screenings, even if it’s a longer walk to the front.

* Remember no parents on campus after students are checked in

* Remind your neighbors that school fields are closed during school days

For everyone’s safety - especially during COVID - we need to keep our schools secure. Thanks in advance for your understanding and help with this.

Together, we make a difference!

Yours in service,

Michelle Williams, Principal

Highlighted Book: March brings us Women’s History Month, a time to reflect upon and be inspired by women who have changed the world in ways large and small.

Simone Biles had a rough start in life, spending part of her early years in foster care before being adopted by her grandparents, but that didn’t stop her from rising to gymnastic stardom. With 30 Olympic and World Championships, she is the most decorated American gymnast and the third most decorated gymnast in the world. Here is a video of Flying High, a book about Ms. Biles’ life by Michelle Meadows.. To watch some of Simone’s greatest performances, click hereand here.

Women’s History Month

In the month of March, we are celebrating Women’s History. BetterTogether recognizes the people, movements, and ideas that challenge expectations and gender stereotypes that negatively affect us all. From women’s suffrage to the gender equality movements of modern day, it has become clear that when we all fight gender inequality, we all win. Celebrate this month by having meaningful conversations with your students, your children, and your fellow s(heroes). In addition to the infographic, this month we will also be highlighting amazing women from our organization and learning about the s(heroes) that have inspired their own commitment to gender equality.

For a closer look at this month’s infographic, click on the attached flyers or visit https://www.mvwsd.org/bettertogetherMVWSD.
