From the Principal's Desk

Hello, Theuerkauf Families!

I hope you are enjoying a lovely Thursday. We have had an exciting week of teaching and learning at Theuerkauf. Students have enjoyed several virtual field trips, library visits, music and art classes, and of course engaging and appropriately challenging coursework in all of their classes.

Through our Project Cornerstone social and emotional lessons this week, students have been learning what it means to be a positive 'bucket filler' for ourselves and for others. You can hear the short story, "Have You FIlled a Bucket Today?" here. Please be sure to speak with your child about ways that they can show our core value of respect by becoming a bucket filler. These are wise words for all of us in these trying times.

As always, thank you for your partnership. Together, we make a difference!

Yours in service,

Michelle Williams, Principal

Important Reminders Regarding the Heat

It is still very hot in the afternoons, especially during lunch time. We have implemented lots of water breaks, we are using shade structures, and we are monitoring kids very closely, but we need your help, as well. Please take a few minutes to speak with your child and reinforce the importance of drinking lots of water and complying with the noon duties' direction to take breaks at lunch time when asked. Additionally, will you please be sure to send your child to school with a filled water bottle, a hat, and perhaps apply a dab of sunscreen before leaving home each morning, if possible? This will add a couple of additional layers of protection from the heat that kids need. Please note that in the case of excessively high temperatures, we will need to move students indoors after they eat. We will include group games and other social activities if this becomes necessary.

Open Office Hours with the Principal

Your voice is important! Please note that open office hours with the principal are back again this year so that you can share any ideas, concerns, or questions that may be on your mind. If you'd like to stop by (virtually) and chat with the principal about anything at all, please click on this linkon Wednesdays, anytime from 4-5pm.

Theuerkauf Food Drive & Pantry

Thank you so much to those who donated items to our food pantry last year! This week, we will begin accepting donations again this year. If your family has a little extra to share with the community, you can drop items off at our front office. We know that as the pandemic drags on, many families are facing tough times financially, and we want to continue to share with one another. This year, we will continue to accept canned goods, boxed dinners, hygiene items, and other non-perishables as well as grocery cards. Please click here to see a more specific list of items that are typically needed. Thanks again for your generosity and kindness! If you are a family who could use a bit of support, please reach out to Ms. Lisset Tellez. She will schedule a time for you to come to the food pantry to privately pick up the items that you need.
