Dear Cheetah Community, 

Thank you parents for coming to support clapping the students into school on Tuesday! It sends such a great, motivational message to the students when they see the whole community cheering them on! Also, thank you PTA for the daily snacks! Next week, younger grade levels will participate in Positive Picketing! You are welcome to join them each morning from 8-8:15AM as well! Pick up your pom pom in the front office! 

There are two other opportunities this week to celebrate our cheetahs! 

  1. Reclassification Ceremony - Thursday, 5-6pm at Crittenden quad. Join us to see which school can cheer the loudest for our students!!! Wear your Theuerkauf shirt! 

  1. Dia del Ninos! - Day of the Child - Friday, 3-6pm

The Cheetah Community would like to celebrate our awesome PTA and our wonderful volunteers!  PTA and parent volunteers please join us as we recognize you on May 7th at 7:50am in the Staff Lounge. There will be delicious breakfast snacks courtesy of your thankful Cheetah staff! Thank you for all you do to support Theuerkauf!

CAASPP Testing Schedule: 

Please make sure chromebooks are charged and ready to go each morning! Better yet, pack that chromebook the night before, fully charged! 

  • 5th grade Science - CAST start Wednesday, April 17th

  • 3rd-5th grade ELA - starts Tuesday, April 23rd

  • 3rd-5th grade Math - starts Tuesday, April 30th

Reminders to support your child: 

  • Explain to your child that it is important to do his/her best. Remind them that if they are doing their best, you are proud.

  • Provide positive reinforcement and encourage your child each day.

  • Make sure your child gets an ample, normal amount of sleep the night before the test.

  • Make sure to arrive on time each day.

  • Eat a nice, healthy breakfast.

  • Keep a positive attitude about testing around your child. Remind them that this is a time to show what they know!

Parent University: Transitioning to High School: Nurturing Emotional and Social Growth

Do you have a child who is about to enter high school? Join us at our final Parent University session of the year to learn about high school campus life from students and staff at Los Altos High School and Mountain View High School. This session will focus on supporting the social and emotional growth of students as they navigate a complex new school experience.

Over 125 online auction items were donated to the Gala! There is something for everyone and anyone can bid in the online auction. Bidding closes on April 27 when Gala Live Auction bidding begins. Bidders will receive a message as the closing time approaches.

 

April and May 2024 CAC and LCC Events 

Important announcement - the SELPA 1 CAC covering the districts of Mountain View Whisman School District, Mountain View Los Altos High School District, Palo Alto Unified and Los Altos School District will be consolidated starting July 1 with SELPA II, SELPA III, SELPA IV and SELPA VII into the Northwest Santa Clara County CAC. 21 Districts will be represented in the new CAC.

A new website with resources surrounding special education issues will be available on the Santa Clara County Office of Education website soon. Stay tuned for updates at: https://www.sccoe.org/selpa/

City of MV: Female Empowerment Workshop 

Join the City of Mountain View on Thursday, April 25 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. for a free female empowerment workshop that is a unique blend of self-defense skills training and essential knowledge about feminine hygiene. The workshop will be held at The View Teen Center (263 Escuela Avenue) and is open to Adults and Teens ages 11+. Register in advance here.

 

City of MV: Multicultural Festival

The City of Mountain View’s Multicultural Festival will take place on Saturday, April 27 at Civic Center Plaza from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The Multicultural Festival recognizes the cultural diversity of the Mountain View community by bringing together residents to share, learn, and understand people of all cultures, talents and beliefs. The event will feature community resource tables, crafts, and a variety of dance, vocal, and musical performances representing a variety of international cultures.

 

City of MV: Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan survey 

The City of Mountain View has initiated a comprehensive community-wide survey as part of the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan community input process. This survey is designed to gather insights that will shape our decisions for the next 10-15 years. As a valued member of our community, your input is crucial in helping us understand and address our residents' evolving parks and recreation needs and preferences. Paint Drop-off and Giveaway Event 

The City of Mountain View is promoting a Paint Drop-off and Giveaway Event hosted by PaintCare on Saturday, April 27 from 8:00am to noon at Mountain View High School for all Santa Clara County residents. Households may bring any amount of paint, stain, and varnish. Paint in good condition will be made available to the public for free. CSA Empty Bowls Fundraiser 

Please join the Community Services Agency's Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser for Homeless Services on April 28, 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm at Rengstorff Park. The event will feature bottomless ice cream, beautiful bowls, and fun children's activities. You can purchase tickets and donate here

We are excited to share with you that we are celebrating the international “Día del Niño”(Day of the Child) on April 26th from 3pm-6pm. This is a family event with games, food and fun activities! Please join us for this fun celebration honoring all of the diverse cultures that make up our school. You are invited to wear traditional clothing representing your own unique culture or heritage! 

To make this event possible we need your support with the following:

- Each student needs to return a permission slip to the teacher or school office.  Attached you will find the permission slip with more details. The paper form was sent home last week.

Congrats to the chess cheetahs that represented Theuerkauf at the district chess tournament afterschool!  You guys ROCKED IT!!  A reminder that there is a free parent-led chess club that meets at 3rd-5th grade lunch period every Friday – please come join us!

Tuesday Playdates  

After school every Tuesday a group of Theuerkauf families meets at the Theuerkauf blue playground to share snacks and hangout!  All are welcome!
