From the Principal's Desk
Hello Theuerkauf Families!
This Friday, February 14th, is Valentine’s Day...of course, it’s a fun Holiday, but it is also the end of another Trimester at school! That is right, folks, time is going by way too quickly. Our students are finishing up their writing and reading benchmarks for Trimester 2 this week. Keep an eye out for student report cards that go home on March 6th.
News from the 3rd Grade classrooms:
Our 3rd graders got to experience fun natural beauty at Vasona Park last Friday as a part of the Youth Science Institute program. They had a great time hiking around the lake and soaking the beauty of nature all around us.
If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grade female student at our school, we have a fabulous after school running club opportunity coming up - Girls on the Run. This program is led by four of our teachers and will culminate in a fun 5K family run. Check out the flyer attached to this newsletter for more information on Girls on the Run program.
Wishing you a wonderful February Break ahead! Looking forward to continuing our work together as we step into our last Trimester of the year. Nothing but upward and beyond for our Theuerkauf Cheetahs!
Sincerely,
Ms. Swati Dagar
Principal - Theuerkauf Elementary

inplay.org
There are many opportunities in Mountain View for students to enrich their learning afterschool or during school breaks. With safety and consistency in mind, our school newsletter and website will advertise only District-, school- and PTA-sponsored events and activities. While we recognize that there are many providers of enrichment activities who use our campus, we may promote only those that follow specific MVWSD parameters for safety and supervision.
The District provides inplay.org as a resource to parents who are seeking additional learning opportunities for their students. To view student enrichment activities, school break and afterschool classes in our community that are not hosted by MVWSD, please see our partner, https://www.inplay.org/r/mountain-view/. Parents may search for activities near their school by entering either the school name or the school address on the map. MVWSD has not reviewed all programs/events found there and does not specifically endorse them. Parents should thoroughly research all activities before enrolling their children.
Coronavirus update
Winter break travel reminder: Coronavirus update
We are still fighting the flu and working to make our schools as healthy as possible and prevent viruses like the coronavirus.
Please note: As a reminder for winter break travel, any staff or student who has been in China since Feb. 2 may not attend school for 14 days after their return. Please see these guidelines from Santa Clara County: https://www.sccoe.org/news/featured/Pages/Novel-Coronavirus-Information.aspx.
Our District is going above the recommended basic actions to help protect against the coronavirus as well as the seasonal flu, and we need your assistance. Please visit www.mvwsd.org/coronavirus to read the latest information, learn about the District's actions, and how parents can help.
LCAP/Strategic Plan materials
We want to hear from you! LCAP survey
The District is beginning its annual process of writing the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan). Your input from the survey will guide the development of our District’s three-year plan and inform the update of the District’s Strategic Plan. These documents are the blueprints that guide all of the District’s work for the benefit of our students.
The survey has been revised to include questions about school and District climate.
Parents, we want to hear from you: Please click below to give input through February 28 in a survey. (Using a laptop/desktop computer or a tablet is recommended. Formatting may not be as readable on mobile devices). If you would like a paper copy, please come to the office.
